California Employment News, a video and podcast series hosted by the Labor & Employment Group at Weintraub Tobin, released its 50th episode on March 19, 2024.
Launched in 2022, California Employment News provides short, informational videos and podcasts that are designed to keep California employers up-to-date on legal developments in employment law and help them manage their employees and workplaces. Attorneys from Weintraub’s Labor & Employment Group share their insight, experience, and best practices related to settled employment law, as well as new and developing topics involving wage and hour compliance, leaves of absence and reasonable accommodations, confidentiality and non-compete agreements, and much more.
“With feedback from our clients, we developed California Employment News with the goal of helping them stay informed and educated about complex and often rapidly evolving employment law obligations,” said Lizbeth “Beth” West, Chair of Weintraub’s Labor & Employment Group. “Over two years and 50 episodes, we’ve seen enormous enthusiasm for the series and there is no shortage of topics to cover.”
The 50th episode covers developments in wage and hour law from 2023, as well as new restrictions on certain personnel policies. The topics include updates to minimum wage laws and how those updates might impact exempt employees; updates to how PAGA claims are being litigated; and a discussion about the NLRB’s prohibition of certain confidentiality and non-disparagement policies in employee handbooks.
